Step#3 for the road to DUI recovery: How to drive safely
The fact is you will have to pay more for the non-standard (not preferred) auto insurance policy. This is the price for drinking and driving, but higher auto insurance price is not forever. If you got convicted for drinking and driving or drinking while intoxicated the price usually drops from your driving record within 10 years and something sooner. Also it does not mean you will have to lock down with the same auto insurance for that long.
Usually the preferred auto insurance companies want to continuous coverage for at least 3 years or more with no SR-22 Fillings, even after DUI. Once you have 2 or 3 years with a non standard policy and the state drops the SR-22 requirement, then it is time to shop around for other auto insurance companies. At that time they may be more than happy to quote you again.
Also, drive safely. Don’t let it happen again because the second time with DUI or DWI conviction, a jail time is often mandated. If you need more help try getting in an AA class or other related programs.
